Way Out West Festival Offers Fans a Chance to “Donate a Kidney” for Tickets

August 6, 20252 min read

A Swedish music festival is giving fans the unique opportunity to “donate a kidney” in exchange for tickets to its 2025 edition this weekend.

The Way Out West Festival in Gothenburg, scheduled for August 7-9, has sold out, but a limited number of three-day passes will be available for those willing to sign up for the Swedish National Organ Donation Registry.

Participants will pledge to donate their organs after death, and those who manage to secure a ‘Kidney Pass’ will receive a special wristband emblazoned with the phrase “I gave up a kidney for this ticket.”

“This year, tickets for Way Out West sold out earlier than ever, leaving many fans feeling a severe case of FOMO. People are saying they’d do anything for a ticket,” notes the festival’s website.

“Signing up for the registry isn’t just a humorous gesture for tickets; it demonstrates support for organ donation. Your commitment could save lives in the future.”

Participants must be over 18 and possess a Swedish social security number to take part.

This year’s lineup features an array of artists, including Charli XCX, BICEP, Pet Shop Boys, PinkPantheress, Yung Lean, and Bladee.

Last year, Way Out West introduced a stage/laboratory that streamed live performances into a controlled environment designed to assist fertilization. The stage featured music from prominent acts like Queens of the Stone Age, Pulp, and Peggy Gou, based on research suggesting that music and vibrations may enhance the success of IVF by five percent.

This innovative use of music not only entertains but aims to make a meaningful impact in the world of reproductive health.
