The Rolling Stones Reportedly Preparing New Album and Upcoming Tour

June 12, 20253 min read

The Rolling Stones are said to be hard at work on a new album and are planning to embark on another tour.

This news follows the release of their 2023 album, Hackney Diamonds—the band’s 24th studio release and their first since 2005’s A Bigger Bang. The album features the final recordings of late drummer Charlie Watts and boasts collaborations with artists like Lady Gaga, Elton John, Paul McCartney, and Stevie Wonder.

After launching their successful North American tour, which included 20 major shows and grossed approximately $235 million, there were rumors earlier this year about the cancellation of plans to extend the tour to the UK and Europe due to scheduling conflicts. However, it seems the band has decided to take this time to focus on new music.

According to a report from The Sun, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, and Steve Jordan have been in the studio since April working on songs for the follow-up to Hackney Diamonds and have reportedly completed 13 tracks at Metropolis Studios in West London. Discussions regarding a release date with their label are also underway.

A source shared with The Sun that the original intention was for the band to bring their extensive US tour overseas this summer, but conflicts arose. Instead, the band chose to return to the studio, much to the delight of fans who missed their live shows.

Renowned producer Andrew Watt, who worked on Hackney Diamonds, is also involved in this new project. While the band has yet to officially confirm plans for the album or any live performances, members have expressed their eagerness to share more music in the future.

In a prior interview, Jagger indicated that the next album was already in progress, stating he didn’t view Hackney Diamonds as the “last Rolling Stones album.” Similarly, Keith Richards affirmed that there is more material to come, emphasizing their commitment to creating music.

Ronnie Wood added that fans can expect new material soon, mentioning they recorded about 23 songs during the writing sessions and only selected 12 for the latest album.

As of now, while there are updates on the new album and upcoming performances, details have yet to be officially announced. Meanwhile, Wood is set to reunite with Rod Stewart for a performance later this month as Stewart headlines the Legends Slot at Glastonbury 2025, marking their first album in over 50 years.
