From October 9–12, 2025, East London’s creative hub, Truman Brewery, will once again host The Other Art Fair. Bringing together independent artists from around the world, the fair offers a space designed not just for viewing art but for experiencing it.
Known for its motto “Bizarre, unexpected, never normal,” the fair transcends traditional art fairs by fostering direct interaction between artists and audiences. This year’s event, featuring over 175 independent artists, will showcase a rich collection of more than 100,000 works. Spanning painting, sculpture, photography, and print, the fair also includes performances, live mural creations, DJ sets, creative workshops, and wine tastings, promising a vibrant four-day experience.
A standout theme this year, Art Reframed, focuses on making art accessible and building direct connections with viewers. In collaboration with Black Chalk Wine, events will blur the lines between art, gastronomy, and music. Visitors can watch mural artists at work, participate in wine tastings, and engage in hands-on creative workshops.
One of the fair’s most compelling features is its emphasis on gender equality in its artist selection. With approximately 70% of participants being women, the fair addresses visibility imbalances in the art world. Artists like Joanna Pilarczyk, Nadia Attura, Courtenay Kusitor, and Taya De La Cruz present powerful visual narratives centered on womanhood, identity, and emotion. Additionally, the East London Strippers Collective (ELSC) exhibition combines art and activism, raising a voice against prejudices surrounding sex work.
Brimming with creative energy, The Other Art Fair redefines the connection to art: not formal, silent, or distant, but direct, fun, and heartfelt.
