Neighbor, would you like me to read the news to you?

The lost stories of King Arthur and Merlin have been unearthed after 800 years thanks to the intensive efforts of scientists. The 13th-century manuscripts, which had been overwritten with other texts over time, were made readable again using new digital analysis and imaging techniques. The manuscript, discovered at Cambridge University Library and estimated to have been written between 1275 and 1315, is part of a popular work about the aftermath of King Arthur’s coronation. The text took three years to restore and has now been made available for digital examination.

The manuscript is written in the language of the English aristocracy after the Norman Invasion and contains the adventures of Merlin and King Arthur. Thanks to technological innovation and restoration, the layered texts have been digitized in detail and can now be studied by both scholars and the general public. Modern techniques used in the restoration process, such as multispectral imaging and computed tomography, have played an important role in recovering lost texts while preserving the delicate structure of the manuscript.
