The Last Dinner Party Unveils Sophomore Album ‘From The Pyre’ with New Single ‘This Is The Killer Speaking’

July 18, 20253 min read

The Last Dinner Party is back with exciting news about their upcoming second album, From The Pyre, set to release on October 17 through Island Records. The band has also dropped their lead single, “This Is The Killer Speaking”, which you can listen to below.

This new album follows their critically lauded debut, Prelude to Ecstasy, released in 2023, which earned them two BRIT Awards. As the London-based five-piece continues to evolve, they focus on deepening their songwriting and enjoying the creative process, liberated from the pressures of following up their stunning debut. Pre-order here.

Work on the new LP accelerated in early 2025 when the band entered the studio with Grammy-winning producer Markus Dravs, known for collaborating with iconic artists such as Wolf Alice, Florence + The Machine, and Björk.

“This album is a collection of stories, unified by the concept of the album-as-myth,” the band shared. “The Pyre serves as an allegorical origin for these narratives—representing both destruction and rebirth, as well as passion and enlightenment.”

The lyrics pull from rich imagery: rifles, scythes, sailors, saints, and historical figures, capturing the intensity of real-life experiences. The band described the sound of this record as darker, rawer, and more grounded, inviting listeners to engage with vivid landscapes rather than a lavish setting.

To celebrate the album announcement, vocalist Abigail Morris and her bandmates have released “This Is The Killer Speaking.” Dive into the essence of the new album by checking out the track above, along with the album artwork and tracklisting below.

Earlier this year, guitarist Lizzie Mayland, now known as L.Mayland, shared insights about the band’s direction, highlighting a focus on darker themes and emotional processing.

“This time, we’re channeling anger towards the world around us,” she said, hinting at the album’s intensity. “It may reflect challenging times, but there are moments of fun and energy as well.”

As Morris said, “We’re approaching this sophomore album with the same spirit as our first, focusing on what feels right.” You can find the full interview linked above.
