Arthur Miller’s immortal work All My Sons is being revived at Wyndham’s Theatre under the direction of visionary Ivo Van Hove (A View from the Bridge, A Little Life). This production fuses the unsettling timeliness of Miller’s text with the power of a modern cinematic star.
At the heart of the play is self-made, respectable businessman Joe Keller (Bryan Cranston), who takes pride in the prosperity he provided his family during wartime. But that profit comes at a heavy cost: his business partner is accused of criminal production deals, and Joe’s eldest son goes missing in the war. When peace arrives, Joe’s true role in those activities gradually surfaces, forcing the character to confront the moral consequences of his actions.
Known for Breaking Bad and Network, Bryan Cranston embodies this complex figure with commanding stage presence. He is joined by talented performers including Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Paapa Essiedu. The reunion of Van Hove and Cranston lends shattering intensity to Miller’s examination of the dishonest promise of the American Dream.
This is not merely a West End play; it is a thought-provoking moral inquiry into war profiteering, the cost of conscience, and the destructive power of family secrets.
