In these first days of the year, as our minds rest in the calm of winter, news of one of spring’s most exciting artistic encounters has begun to echo through the theatre world. One of the world’s most respected theatre institutions, Shakespeare’s Globe, is coming to Turkey for the first time with such an extensive educational programme—in collaboration with NO & Vajra Theatre—and heading to the unique geological layers of Cappadocia. The International Stage Camp – Cappadocia Edition, taking place from 23–26 April 2026, conceives of the performing arts not merely as a performance space but as a journey of bodily and spiritual discovery.
The most striking aspect of this camp is that three internationally recognised Globe instructors will be in Turkey simultaneously for the first time. The educational programme blends the foundational elements of acting—voice and body work—with the deep-rooted and living methods of the Shakespearean tradition. Participants will have the opportunity not only to receive technical training but to directly experience the characteristic stage language of Globe practitioners, the resonance of the voice, and the performative relationship the body establishes with space. This promises an intensive process aimed at transforming acting practice from rational memorisation into a form of bodily presence and ontological expression.
Cappadocia’s landscape, silence, and distinctive architectural balance have been chosen not merely as a backdrop but as an integral part of the education. The “spatial balance” and “silence” emphasised by the organisers offer an ideal “hermetic” refuge for actors to turn inward to their own inner voice and connect with Shakespeare’s universal archetypes. The workshops, held in this special accommodation where ancient fairy chimneys cast their shadows and architecture intertwines with nature, aim to open a new artistic perspective by tempering the noisy state of being on stage with nature’s timeless silence.
The advantageous early registration period has already begun for this unique gathering, taking place at the end of April—one of Cappadocia’s most enchanting times. For professionals and aspiring actors wishing to experience an international theatre camp with one of the world’s most important institutional memories, this process offers both artistic development and an opportunity to build an interdisciplinary network.
