Pulp Releases Joyful New Single “Got To Have Love”

May 25, 20252 min read

Pulp has unveiled their latest single, “Got To Have Love,” which is featured on their forthcoming album, More. You can give it a listen below.

Described by lead singer Jarvis Cocker as a “slightly hysterical song that reflects on love as I see it today,” this track marks the band’s return with their first studio LP in nearly 24 years, which was announced last month alongside the opening track, “Spike Island.”

Originally penned in 1999 but left incomplete until now, Cocker shares, “‘Love’ is a word I really could not vocalize until I was close to 40. I listened to love songs constantly but struggled to say it in real life. The lyrics reflect a conversation I had with myself about this challenge. I finally learned how to express it without losing my composure.”

More is set to release on June 6 via Rough Trade, and you can pre-order it here.

In unveiling More in April — their first album in 24 years — Pulp confirmed to BBC 6 Music that “the record has been finished for quite some time now,” and the gap between albums felt like “a lifetime.” Cocker noted, “Performing live had a significant impact on the album — the songs were revived during our shows. We tried out one new song near the end of the tour, and thankfully no one booed or headed for the bar. It was a quick process — the songs simply wanted to be released.”

Pulp will also hit the road for a series of shows this summer, which includes a UK arena tour and a North American tour. They’ll perform at London’s O2 and make stops in Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, and more, concluding with two shows at the Hollywood Bowl alongside LCD Soundsystem.

Additionally, Pulp, along with IDLES and Fontaines D.C., has signed Heavenly Recordings’ letter defending Kneecap’s “freedom of expression.”
