Ozzy Osbourne’s Death Certificate Pays Tribute to His Iconic Legacy

August 6, 20252 min read

The death certificate of Ozzy Osbourne, the renowned rocker, reflects his legendary status in the music world. Reports indicate that the document describes his occupation as “Songwriter, Performer, and Rock Legend,” a fitting tribute to his extraordinary career.

On July 22, the heavy metal pioneer passed away at 76, just weeks after delivering his final performance at Black Sabbath’s grand ‘Back To The Beginning’ event in Birmingham on July 5.

The New York Times revealed the cause of death listed on his certificate was a heart attack, alongside his struggles with coronary heart disease and Parkinson’s disease, which he had been diagnosed with in 2003 but only publicly acknowledged in 2020. The certificate was submitted by his daughter, Aimee Osbourne, at a registry in London.

Osbourne’s funeral took place at his UK mansion in a private ceremony attended by close friends and family, including Elton John and members of Metallica. Prior to the service, a procession through Birmingham brought thousands of fans to pay their respects. During this emotional journey, the Osbourne family stopped at a fan memorial by Black Sabbath Bridge. Sharon Osbourne, visibly moved, held onto her late husband’s ring, while their children offered support. Kelly Osbourne honored her father by wearing his signature purple-tinted sunglasses.

In an emotionally charged Instagram post, Kelly expressed her gratitude to fans for their “love, support, and beautiful messages” following her father’s passing. She acknowledged the complex nature of grief and emphasized the importance of family during this challenging time.

Just weeks before his death, Osbourne’s final concert raised significant funds for various charities, making it one of the most successful charity events ever. According to his longtime bandmate, Geezer Butler, he appeared frailer than usual during the show, performing seated and struggling to rise from his chair. Guitarist Tony Iommi remarked that Ozzy likely held on just to say goodbye to his fans during that performance, marking the end of an era.
