If you’ve attended a concert at Wembley Stadium, you know how challenging the journey home can be. With a capacity of 90,000, the venue sees a massive influx of concertgoers relying on public transport, leading to occasional chaos when everyone tries to leave at once.
Many attendees head to Wembley Park station, just a 13-minute walk from the stadium. While it may sound daunting to think about thousands of people squeezing onto the Tube, don’t worry—we’ve got a few strategic tips to help you make your escape smoothly.
Getting Home After the Concert
Recent shows at Wembley saw some Oasis fans waiting until after midnight for trains at Wembley Park. Long delays are common given the overwhelming number of attendees exiting simultaneously. To ensure you make it home in good time, it’s wise to plan your departure in advance.
Consider leaving a bit early! The concert usually wraps up around 10:15 PM, and departing before everyone else can help you dodge the worst of the crowds. Just remember, leaving early means you might miss iconic songs like “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” “Wonderwall,” and “Champagne Supernova.”
Alternative Routes to the Tube
If you’d rather catch the full set, here are two effective routes to escape the post-show rush:
- Head to Preston Road: Instead of waiting at Wembley Park, walk to Preston Road (about 1.1 miles, roughly 21 minutes). From there, you can catch the Metropolitan Line towards Aldgate, bypassing the crowded Wembley Park station.
- Use the Jubilee Line: Alternatively, travel one stop north to Kingsbury on the Jubilee Line. The northbound platform tends to be quieter after a large event. If you can make it through the queues at Kingsbury and hop on a southbound train, you’re likely to find an empty carriage.
Other Transportation Options
If the Tube isn’t your preference, several bus routes also serve the area, including the 83, 182, 206, 223, 297, and N83. The nearest bus stop to Wembley Stadium is Olympic Way (E), just a five-minute walk away.
For those considering driving, please note that parking for events at Wembley is limited and must be booked in advance through the Wembley Official Parking site. Without a reservation, you won’t be granted access to the parking lots—make sure to secure your spot beforehand.
If you have accessibility needs, Blue Badge parking can also be reserved through the same official website.
With these tips, you’re sure to navigate your way home after the concert with much less hassle. Enjoy the show!
