Tucked away in the backstreets of Marylebone, just steps from the Wallace Collection, The Brown Collection is one of London’s most undiscovered art destinations. This four-story mews building showcases the personal collection of British artist Glenn Brown.
Glenn Brown’s surrealist forms—ranging from root vegetables to trees transforming into human hands—form the backbone of the collection, engaging in dialogue with artists from various periods.
Hoi Polloi: Body, Soul, and Humanity
The exhibition “Hoi Polloi,” marking the museum’s new direction, explores how artists have represented the body, soul, and humanity over five centuries. On view from September 24, 2025, to August 8, 2026, the exhibition offers a thematic journey across four floors:
- The Ecstatic Mark
- The Spiritual Human/Portrait
- The Sublime Body/Flesh
Visitors explore concepts of body, flesh, and soul, from the dramatic narratives of the Baroque period to the fragmented perspectives of the modern era.
Featured Artists
- Giovanni Battista Tiepolo
- Bernardo Strozzi
- Austin Osman Spare
- Hans Bellmer
- Gillian Wearing
- Gertrude Hermes
- Ann Churchill
- Boris Petrovich Sveshnikov
Anna Zinkeisen’s Portrait of a Nurse is among the exhibition’s standout pieces.
