Carlos/Ishikawa, London
On view through November 22, 2025
Emerging as one of London’s youngest yet most intuitive voices, Josiane M.H. Pozi presents her new solo exhibition, United Kingdom London. Portrait O.A.Y.G., forging a profound inner dialogue about urban identity and personal representation.
A Goldsmiths graduate, Pozi has, in recent years, explored Black female identity, visibility, and her emotional connection to the city through video, installation, and text-based works. Her practice is recognized for presenting fragments of everyday life with raw, unfiltered honesty.
Her new exhibition, Portrait O.A.Y.G. (One And Your Ghost), creates an echo with its title alone—a multiplication of identity, an “I” resonating with its other. Through videos, sounds, and text fragments, Pozi interrogates the sense of belonging in the city while shedding light on the invisible pressures of societal representation. This exhibition builds on the more abstract yet deeply personal language she developed following her 2023 work Through My Fault.
Pozi’s works are both a bodily and emotional form of witnessing. Visual layers interwoven with sound recordings narrate the rebirth of a memory, a place, or a face on the brink of being forgotten. She keeps the boundaries between the public and the personal in constant flux—much like London itself, perpetually redefining its identity.
