Josh Homme Suggests Kyuss Reunion Could Happen

June 27, 20253 min read

Josh Homme appears to be receptive to the idea of a Kyuss reunion, as revealed in a recent discussion with fans.

Homme, along with vocalist John Garcia, bassist Nick Oliveri, and drummer Brant Bjork, founded the iconic stoner rock band in 1987, disbanding in 1995. Since then, Homme has led several successful projects, including Queens Of The Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal.

After years of failed attempts to reconcile, Homme seems more open to the idea of getting the band back together. In his chat with Kyuss World, he shared, “I’ve thought about it many times… I’ve actually discussed it with people who assist me in my work. Kyuss was such a perfect unit, and I believe it ended as it should have.”

He also addressed his past legal disputes with former bandmates over the Kyuss Lives! venture, stating, “I supported what was happening with Kyuss Lives!, but some tricky things happened. I think it’s important for people to know the truth.”

Homme continued, expressing a desire to move past negativity, saying, “There’s no reason to hold onto anything bad. I have no ill feelings towards anyone. None of that matters. So, yes, a reunion is possible.”

Kyuss briefly reformed in 2011 under the name Kyuss Lives!, but without Homme. In 2012, he filed a lawsuit against the group, believing they were misusing the band’s name, even after he had tried to help them continue respectfully.

A judge later ruled that Bjork and Garcia couldn’t release music under the Kyuss Lives! name, warning them about potential trademark issues.

In 2021, Bjork mentioned that he had reached out to Homme to discuss the possibility of a reunion, expressing hope for improved communication. Although that did not progress, he remains uncertain of Homme’s future plans for Kyuss.

In 2020, Homme hinted at a possible reunion, mentioning a need to set things right by performing together again.

As for Homme’s current project, Queens Of The Stone Age are in the midst of a U.S. tour, with upcoming outdoor gigs planned in Sheffield, along with appearances at several major festivals this summer. The band has also announced a North American tour inspired by their exclusive performance at The Catacombs in Paris, which will be released on limited edition vinyl later this year.
