Hayley Williams’ Thought-Provoking New Video for ‘Glum’

August 19, 20252 min read

Hayley Williams has just unveiled her latest music video for ‘Glum’—be sure to check it out below.

Co-directed with her Paramore bandmate Zac Farro, the visually stunning video captures the song’s existential themes. Filmed entirely on analog, it features Williams with vibrant yellow hair as she explores an empty home, reclines on hardwood floors, and strolls through a desolate garden.

“Do you ever feel so alone / That you could implode and no one would know? / And when you look around and nobody’s home / That you wanna go back to wherever we’re from / Wherever we’re from,” Williams sings in a hauntingly reflective manner.

The track is part of her recent surprise release, which comprises 17 distinct singles instead of a conventional album. Just two weeks ago, she shared a video for ‘Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party.’

Affectionately titled ‘Ego,’ this collection of songs could potentially be reshaped into an album. Williams hinted at this possibility in a recent Instagram post, noting, “I have been at the creek listening to potential track-list orders and still trying to create my own.”

Whether these tracks will ultimately culminate in an album, or if they are all part of a broader upcoming project, remains to be seen.

The recent music releases mark Williams’ first work as an independent artist following the conclusion of her record deal with Warner/Atlantic. Fans got an initial taste of the songs on her website, and later, all 17 tracks became available individually on streaming platforms.

However, the project has stirred some concerns among fans about a potential split within Paramore, fueled by cryptic lyrics that allude to a breakup between Williams and guitarist Taylor York, with whom she confirmed a relationship in 2022. As of now, neither has commented on any breakup rumors.
