Drake’s much-anticipated third headline performance at the Wireless Festival ended after a mere 40 minutes, leaving many fans feeling let down.
Making history, the rapper was the first artist to headline all three nights of the festival in London, showcasing a unique setlist each evening at Finsbury Park. However, his final set on Sunday night (July 13) was notably shorter than expected. He took the stage 10 minutes early, promptly informing the audience that he would perform until they cut his mic, alluding to the strict 9:30 PM curfew.
Originally, Drake was scheduled to deliver two sets on Sunday, but the first never happened. Instead, he appeared on the main stage right after Burna Boy’s performance, a set that the BBC described as “agitated” and “apologetic,” with some songs felt to be “rushed.”
Social media reactions captured the mixed feelings of attendees:
“Sunday’s Wireless was…interesting. My company definitely made it better. Drake performed his biggest hits but at lightning speed!” — @cherrypinkyb
“I can’t believe what Drake did tonight. Never again.” — @_NOMICS
“Sunday Drake at Wireless was an absolute disappointment. Everyone felt underwhelmed.” — @lordkarismaticz
His performance did feature special guests like Popca, VYBZ KARTEL, and Rema, but overall it lacked the star power seen in the previous two nights. He even previewed an unreleased collaboration with Central Cee, who was visible on the big screens but did not join him on stage.
Following the show, Drake took to Instagram to express his gratitude: “Thank you, London. I need time to process tonight; I don’t have my usual caption… just thank you for the best three nights of my performance career.”
On Friday, his headline set celebrated the legacy of R&B, with cameos from notable artists such as Lauryn Hill and Bryson Tiller. Saturday’s show, titled ‘Drake & The Mandem,’ featured several prominent figures from the UK rap scene.
Additionally, Drake recently announced upcoming tour dates for the UK and Europe alongside PARTYNEXTDOOR to celebrate their collaborative album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U. Drake also surprised fans with a new song, “What Did I Miss?”, which hints at his feelings towards disingenuous friends.
In April, he confirmed he is working on a new solo album, which he describes as “a slap.” While details about the release remain scarce, it is anticipated to be his first solo project since 2023’s For All The Dogs.
