Production images are now available for the rock-infused medieval comedy running until May 10.
The world premiere of A Knight’s Tale: The Musical has officially launched at the Manchester Opera House, where it will continue to delight audiences until May 10. This vibrant stage adaptation, inspired by the beloved 2001 film featuring Heath Ledger and Paul Bettany, brings medieval chaos to life with a dynamic, upbeat production filled with humor, heart, and unforgettable hit songs.
Adapted for the stage by Irish comedy writer and actor Brona C. Titley, the production is directed by award-winning Rachel Kavanaugh, with choreography by Olivier Award-winner Matt Cole. It reimagines the medieval world of jousting and chivalry through a contemporary lens, complemented by a thrilling soundtrack of chart-topping rock anthems.
Leading the cast is Andrew Coshan as William Thatcher, the brave 14th-century peasant who defies social norms by impersonating a nobleman to compete in jousting. Emily Benjamin stars as Kate, with Max Bennett delivering a captivating performance as Geoffrey Chaucer. The cast also features Emile Ruddock (Roland), Jay Saighal (Prince Edward), Eva Scott (What), Giles Taylor (Father), Oliver Tompsett (Count Adhemar), and Meesha Turner (Jocelyn).
The ensemble cast includes Robbie Alexander, Lauren Arney, Arcangelo Ciulla, Georgia Clements, Zac Frieze, Elliot Gooch, Gabriela Gregorian, Benedict Hastings, Danielle Huntley, Thomas Inge, Lisa Kerr, Zera Malvina-Aitken, Mehran James McCullough, Ryan North, Ryan Pidgen, and Chioma Uma.
A Knight’s Tale: The Musical narrates an epic tale of ambition, honor, and identity with a comedic flair. When William’s top adversary, the nefarious Count Adhemar, stands between him and his dream of becoming World Champion, the stage is set for an exhilarating showdown.
