Dua Lipa delighted fans at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium by performing a cover of Sinéad O’Connor’s iconic song, “Nothing Compares 2 U.” You can watch the heartfelt moment in the video below.
During her concert on Friday night (June 27), which marked the finale of her European leg of the ‘Radical Optimism’ tour, Lipa took a moment to honor the late Irish artist, delivering a moving rendition of O’Connor’s biggest hit.
“Tonight, I feel privileged to perform a song by a beloved Irish legend,” Dua Lipa told the audience as she introduced “Nothing Compares 2 U,” a song that O’Connor popularized in 1990. The song was originally written by Prince and first appeared on his band’s self-titled album in 1985. She encouraged fans, “If you know the lyrics, please sing along.”
Fans expressed their excitement on social media, with one Twitter user saying, “Dua Lipa was a blast tonight! Covering ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ for the Dublin crowd felt just right.” Another wrote, “Dua Lipa, you truly shine! Your cover of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ was beautiful.”
This performance marks the latest in a series of special cover songs and guest appearances from Lipa during her ‘Radical Optimism’ tour. Earlier this month, she shared the stage with Jamiroquai at Wembley Stadium to perform their hit “Virtual Insanity,” and Charli XCX joined her to cover “360” during the second night at Wembley.
