David Gilmour has announced an exciting new concert film titled ‘Live At Circus Maximus, Rome’, which highlights his recent performances at the iconic venue.
This film follows Gilmour’s successful ‘The Luck And Strange’ tour last year, celebrating his fifth solo album of the same name. The album topped charts in various countries, including the UK, Germany, and the USA, marking a significant return for the Pink Floyd legend.
The tour began with two intimate warm-up shows at the Brighton Centre before moving to the historic Circus Maximus in Rome, where Gilmour played to sold-out crowds over six nights. He then continued his tour with performances at prestigious venues such as London’s Royal Albert Hall, LA’s Hollywood Bowl, and New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Filmed against the backdrop of Rome’s ancient ruins, the concert captures stunning performances captured by Gilmour’s long-time collaborator, Gavin Elder. The film will be released by Sony Music Vision and Trafalgar Releasing, hitting cinemas and IMAX screens around the world for a limited time starting September 17. Tickets will go on sale August 6 at 2 PM BST / 9 AM EDT / 6 AM PDT. For further details, check out this link.
In addition to the cinema release, the ‘Live At The Circus Maximus’ concerts will be available as two Blu-Ray and three DVD sets. These collections will include exclusive footage and audio mixes in 5.1 and Dolby Atmos, set for release on October 17.
Titled ‘The Luck And Strange Concerts,’ this release features 23 tracks across four LPs or two CDs, showcasing a mix of Gilmour’s solo material alongside classic Pink Floyd hits like ‘Sorrow’, ‘High Hopes’, ‘Breathe (In The Air)’, ‘Time’, ‘Wish You Were Here’, and ‘Comfortably Numb’. A super deluxe edition will also include a 120-page hardback book featuring photography by Polly Samson from the tour. The audio for both this release and ‘Live At The Circus Maximus, Rome’ has been co-produced by Gilmour and Charlie Andrew.

This announcement follows the recent 4K restoration of the classic film ‘Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII,’ along with its 2025 soundtrack remix by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree, released in May.
Gilmour’s last work with Pink Floyd, ‘The Endless River,’ released in 2014, was a significant album that arrived two decades after their previous work. It featured contributions from Nick Mason and archived recordings from Richard Wright, who passed away in 2008.
Though a full Pink Floyd reunion seems unlikely due to long-standing tensions between Gilmour and former bandmate Roger Waters, fans can continue to celebrate Gilmour’s extensive musical legacy through his solo endeavors.
