David Byrne Revives ‘Psycho Killer’ After 19 Years to Launch His 2025 Tour

September 18, 20253 min read

David Byrne has delighted fans by performing Talking Heads’ iconic song “Psycho Killer” for the first time in nearly two decades, marking the kickoff of his solo tour for 2025. Check out the footage of the memorable performance below.

Earlier this week, on September 16, Byrne launched the North American leg of his world tour in Pittsburgh. The setlist featured a captivating blend of Talking Heads classics, solo hits, several live debuts, and even a Paramore cover.

The highlight of the evening occurred towards the end when Byrne surprised the audience with “Psycho Killer.” This was the first live rendition of the song since 2006. For the acoustic set, he traded his signature oversized suit for blue overalls and was accompanied by a vibrant group of dancers.

Although video footage of the performance is limited, you can find a clip shared by Pigeons & Planes that’s been circulating online.

During this eclectic show, Byrne performed fan favorites like “Heaven,” “And She Was,” “Houses In Motion,” and the concert closer “Burning Down The House.” He also showcased solo tracks such as “Everybody Laughs” and “What Is The Reason For It?,” along with the live debuts of “Don’t Be Like That,” “I Met The Buddha At A Downtown Party,” and “My Apartment Is My Friend.” The show even featured his first live cover of Paramore’s “Hard Times,” in light of his recent collaboration with Hayley Williams.

Here’s the setlist from David Byrne’s ‘Who Is The Sky?’ concert on September 16:

  • “Heaven” (Talking Heads)
  • “Everybody Laughs”
  • “And She Was” (Talking Heads)
  • “Strange Overtones”
  • “Houses In Motion” (Talking Heads)
  • New song (live debut)
  • “(Nothing But) Flowers” (Talking Heads)
  • “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)” (Talking Heads)
  • “What Is The Reason For It?”
  • “Like Humans Do”
  • “Don’t Be Like That” (live debut)
  • “Independence Day” (first performance since 1992)
  • “Slippery People” (Talking Heads)
  • “I Met The Buddha At A Downtown Party” (live debut)
  • “My Apartment Is My Friend” (live debut)

  • “Life During Wartime” (Talking Heads)
  • “Once In A Lifetime” (Talking Heads)

As for a potential Talking Heads reunion, Byrne recently reiterated that it would be a “fool’s errand,” noting the band hasn’t performed together since 1984. While they briefly reunited for a Q&A in 2023, the members have consistently dismissed rumors of a full reunion, even turning down an $80 million offer from Live Nation to tour.

Byrne’s solo tour will continue throughout North America until December, followed by dates in Australia and New Zealand in January and February. He will also kick off a UK and European tour in February, with several performances scheduled in London. For the full list of tour dates and ticket information, visit here.
