Charli XCX has recently shared her film recommendations on TikTok, offering insights on movies from renowned directors like Lynne Ramsay, Danny Boyle, and Wes Craven.
Over the past few months, the “Brat” star has been actively posting about her cinematic experiences and has encouraged fans to check out her personal Letterboxd account, where she logs all the films she watches.
In her latest video, she reviewed Ramsay’s 2002 psychological drama Morvern Callar, where Samantha Morton plays a woman trying to cope with her boyfriend’s suicide. Charli described the film as “beautiful,” highlighting its stunning cinematography: “Aesthetically, it’s just gorgeous,” she noted. “It features great party scenes, and Samantha Morton is incredible, as always. The film explores friendship and how to react to life’s challenges when you’re feeling lost.”
Charli also praised Wes Craven’s works, including Red Eye and The Last House on the Left, dubbing him the “king of jumps.” She awarded a five-star rating to the 1974 French film Celine and Julie Go Boating, describing it as “one of my favorite movies of all time” and perfect for fans of surrealism.
On the newer releases front, she mentioned Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme, Celine Song’s Materialists, and Danny Boyle’s 1994 debut Shallow Grave, which she found “fabulous.” She appreciated the 2020 documentary Yung Lean: In My Head as well as the 2003 comedy Uptown Girls, featuring Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning, which she called “a classic.”
Charli has previously recommended films such as 28 Weeks Later, The Bling Ring, The Happening, and Balthazar across her social media platforms.
In other news, Charli recently headlined the Other Stage at Glastonbury 2025, celebrating her “Brat” era and performing hits from the album. In response to criticism about her set, she remarked, “The best art is divisive and confrontational, often evolving into something truly interesting.” She ended her performance by declaring that the “Brat Summer” might not be over just yet, emphasizing it’s “a forever thing.”
