2025 has been a spectacular year for anime, with highly anticipated shows like Sakamoto Days and the finale of My Hero Academia. On the film front, titles like Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc conquered the box office. The story of a man made of chainsaws is being hailed as the most heart-wrenching and emotionally devastating anime film of 2025.
Far from being a mere side-story to fill the gap between seasons, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc is a critical adaptation that continues the main storyline of the TV series. In the film, Denji finally gets the downtime he deserves, meets a girl his age named Reze, and quickly falls into a romantic relationship—only for it to be brutally interrupted by the sudden arrival of the powerful Bomb Devil.
Good news for those who missed it in theaters: Sony has announced that Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc will be available for rental and purchase on digital platforms (Apple TV, Prime Video, Fandango at Home, etc.) in Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) format starting December 9, 2025.
Though widely regarded as one of the year’s best romantic comedies, the digital version unfortunately contains no bonus features or extra scenes. Still, you can relive Denji’s first major heartbreak—right before he rides a demonic shark into battle—from the comfort of your own home.
Streaming: The film is a joint distribution effort between Sony Pictures Releasing and Crunchyroll (home to the series’ first season). This means the movie will very likely arrive on Crunchyroll in the near future, a few months after the PVOD window, as part of the traditional release schedule.
Physical Format: Since Crunchyroll regularly releases its major titles physically, a Blu-ray or DVD edition of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc is also expected sometime down the line.
