Blending the legacy of classical theater with a contemporary narrative aesthetic, SPIRITUA takes the stage at Caddebostan Culture Center (CKM) on October 23. This striking production merges Shakespeare’s timeless tragedies with Trojan mythology, combining theater, music, and visual arts to offer audiences an epic journey.
Written and directed by Arda Aydın and produced by İdil Türkmenoğlu under Biraderler Yapım, SPIRITUA stands out in Turkish stage arts for its narrative power and ambitious production. Featuring 45 young actors from Biraderler Yapım’s social initiative, Çocuk Genç Sanat Tiyatro (ÇGST), the play weaves Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello, King Lear, and Richard III with the mythological layers of the Trojan War. The resulting narrative doesn’t clash past and present but transforms and reinterprets them.
The Power of Collective Creation
SPIRITUA draws its energy from the enthusiasm of its young cast and the unity of their collective effort. The production features music design by Orçun Tekelioğlu and Murat Tunalı, choreography by Serkan Bozkurt, and film design by Berk Başyurt. This interdisciplinary approach transcends the boundaries of theater, creating a contemporary performance that intertwines music, dance, and visual storytelling.
Premiering on Thursday, October 23, at 8:30 PM in CKM’s Main Hall, the play reinterprets classic texts with a modern stage language, promising an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages.
