24/7 Mental Health Support Service Launches for Music Industry Professionals

June 17, 20253 min read

A new 24/7 mental health support service has been introduced specifically for individuals in the music industry.

The Music Industry Therapy Collective (MITC) has debuted the Online Tour Health and Welfare Coaching service, which is now accessible for professionals involved in touring music, including artists, production crew, promoters, venue staff, and agents.

This service provides expert-led coaching sessions around the clock to address issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, insomnia, and burnout, which are common in the demanding live music environment.

Additionally, the program offers assistance for addiction recovery, interpersonal conflicts, loneliness, and other mental and physical health challenges.

Sessions can be booked anytime from anywhere in the world. For more details on how to schedule a session, click here.

On Instagram, MITC explained the initiative: “Touring professionals encounter unique obstacles—long hours, shifting time zones, performance demands, and limited opportunities for support. That’s why we’ve developed a 24/7 coaching platform tailored to the realities of tour life.”

These sessions will be confidential and facilitated by specialists with experience in the music industry, allowing for short-notice appointments.

“Our charitable model aims to improve access to care,” they added. “Unused sessions are donated to those at the club and theater level, where budgets are limited but the need is significant.”

Research from mental health charity Mind indicates that individuals in the music industry are “more susceptible to mental health issues than the general population,” with musicians being up to three times more likely to experience depression. Factors such as financial strain, isolation, extensive work hours, and lifestyle choices often contribute to these challenges.

In 2023, NME discussed the “dangerous” impact of touring on mental health in conversations with industry figures.

Tamsin Embleton of MITC noted, “This industry attracts complex, fascinating individuals, many of whom deal with personal challenges behind the scenes. Touring can feel like a pressure cooker. The stressors you already face tend to escalate. You lack personal space, and that affects you physically, psychologically, and socially.”

Embleton admitted that many artists are not fully prepared for the realities of touring: “They’re sold a dream about how it will be. While the excitement is real, those highs create a lot of stress for your body. Sleep can be elusive, diets often consist of party food, and there’s excessive partying—which creates a mentality where every concert feels like a party.”
