Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes is set to make cinematic history with a groundbreaking project: four biographical films, each chronicling the life of a member of The Beatles, the band that reshaped rock history. Slated for release in 2028, these films were announced by Mendes alongside the lead actors at CinemaCon 2025 in Las Vegas. Mendes, who has long dreamed of creating a film about the group, described the project as “the world’s first binge-worthy cinema experience.” Each film will offer a unique perspective from one band member, with interconnected stories converging at key moments.
The cast for the four films has been revealed: Paul Mescal will portray Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon, Joseph Quinn will take on George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan will embody Ringo Starr. In an interview with People magazine, Ringo Starr called Mendes’ project “madness,” adding, “Sam Mendes filming four movies at once is absolute madness! My film will show the days when I joined The Beatles, and Paul’s film will feature us too. We’ll all be together.”
