London is hosting a vibrant calendar this week, ranging from large-scale sporting events to in-depth cultural discussions. However, before making plans, please note that tube strikes are scheduled for April 21–22 and April 23–24, which are expected to cause significant disruptions across the underground network.
Here is your highlight guide for the week of April 21–26, 2026:
Tuesday – April 21 The Vagina Museum is hosting a free lecture on feminism and gender. For music lovers, the London Transport Museum offers a special “Museum Late” featuring live band performances and DJ sets among the galleries.
Wednesday – April 22 The Science Museum screens Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) on its massive IMAX screen as part of the “Star Trek at 60” season. For a quieter evening, head to Fulham for a “Sip & Paint” session where you can paint alongside your dog.
Thursday – April 23 During Shakespeare’s birthday week, a new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream premieres at the Globe Theatre. Additionally, the North London Book Festival begins at Alexandra Palace, featuring speakers such as Rachel Parris and Laura Bates.
Friday – April 24 Ralph Fiennes stars as Sir Henry Irving in Grace Pervades, opening at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. For an alternative experience, try the “Soane Late” at Sir John Soane’s Museum, where actors perform script readings in the museum’s atmospheric corridors.
Saturday – April 25 The musical The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind, based on the true story of William Kamkwamba saving his Malawian village from drought, begins at @sohoplace. In the evening, Poplar Union hosts “Kip Komplin 10,” celebrating Sierra Leone’s independence and the creativity of the African diaspora.
Sunday – April 26 It’s TCS London Marathon 2026 day! Thousands of runners will start at Greenwich Park and finish at The Mall in St. James’s Park. To escape the crowds, join the free musical journey at the V&A South Kensington, exploring the history of the guitar from The Beatles to Bowie.
Important Note: Due to the London Marathon on Sunday, many roads in Central London will be closed, and significant transport diversions will be in place.
Are you planning a cultural discovery, a day of sporting excitement, or a quiet dinner route despite the strikes?
